I'm Keerthana Srinivasan aka Keena. I am an artist from Bangalore, India.
I have started my artistic journey, in my 50’s after becoming an empty nester. I wanted to do an art degree but ended up as a software engineering graduate. I have worked in the software industry for many years and my art was restricted to an occasional game of Pictionary.
To rekindle my passion, I enrolled in Riyaaz Academy of Illustrators to do a certificate course in Children's’ book illustration. I have also completed a summer residency in School of Visual arts, NY on Illustration and visual storytelling. I'm currently a student at The Center for Cartoon Studies, Vermont.
I have been training in Indian classical music as a vocalist. I have performed in shows across India with a music collective called Sunaad.
My love for illustration was rediscovered at a time when I needed it most and also at a time when I could appreciate and learn from different forms of art.
I really enjoy experimenting with different media. I enjoy the sequential narrative form and like the idea of making comics, children's books and leperellos.
My other hobbies include swimming, cycling and Tai-chi. I enjoy being outdoors and love trekking and open-water swimming. My current exploration is Tango dancing.
I practice Vipasanna meditation.
In summary, I love to stretch, sketch, sing and be silent.
